This is my second to last monthly post about this little nerd who is now 23 months old.
Oh man. What a crazy kid.
He's such a little talker. He tries very hard to say what he needs to say in order to get his point across. And he follows directions pretty well. (except when I ask him to smile for a picture)
Here are some of my favorites.
Cheeos daddy = Life cereal (because there is a daddy on the box)
Apple sauce
Yuck away = I want to throw away the diaper
muh-ees ya you?= He's looking for his monkey
Poopy= Percy (cute)
Goy = Gordon
Peep = Sheep
He likes to pretend that he likes toast. He asks for it all the time, but rarely eats more than half of it. When I agree to make him some toast, even though I know he won't eat it, he quickly runs to the kitchen and get a butter knife from our silverware drawer. What a mess he makes of that drawer because he can reach inside, but he can't really see what he's reaching for so he just routs around until he finds what he's looking for.
He loves to eat strawberries and cantaloupe with Marisa. He even says cantaloupe really well.
He has worked his way up the "favorite" list by sleeping in a few days this week. Oh, if only they would stick. I'm not holding my breath but it was sure nice to wake up at 7 having not heard a peep from anyone.
He's still the same old kid who at this moment is lying on the living room floor crying because I won't let him watch Cars.
Speaking of temper tantrums. This kid threw a doozy at JoAnns the other day. WOW! It had to have been the biggest in my experience as a mother. He was WAILING! I had no other choice but to go about my business as if nothing was wrong because no amount of "help" from me would end it. When JoAnn's is 30 + minutes from your house, coming back later just isn't really a desireable option. He seriously cried from the moment we walked in the store until we walked out about 20 minutes later. And Ezra doesn't just cry, he screams, and throws himself about and yells etc. etc. Luckily those are rare.
What a funny kid. I can't believe he's going to be two next month. There aren't any babies around here anymore. Lovely in some ways. Sad in others.

I'm Moving
I'm moving. I can not live here any more!!!!
Ok, so I'm not moving but I want to.
I walked out on my deck Saturday morning to throw out a diaper and my eye was quickly drawn to this:
And it was no wonder... the thing was the size of a diner plate.... or maybe just a touch bigger than a silver dollar but still. HUGE. with extra eyes on it's back accompanied by spikes.
OH!
It just kills me knowing that there is something that big so close to my house. The hair on my neck is standing up just writing about it.
Then I think, if there is one just outside my house, there could easily be one inside and then I start packing my bags because I'M MOVING!!!
My gut reaction was to get some poison from the garage. Then I decided that was kind of cruel to kill it so slowly, so I was trying to figure out how I was going to squish something that was suspended in air.
Then... I calmed down for a minute, remembered my rule (I don't kill spiders outside unless they are touching me or are a black widow) and I closed the door. Opened it for a second to take a picture then closed it and shivered in absolute disgust. Now whenever I go out that door I check carefully before stepping out because if anything like that touched me I WOULD die. Right there.
Speaking of that. I was out on the deck shucking (sp?) corn Monday and Marisa came out. She was picking up everything I dropped and she gently touched my bare foot and I FLIPPED! I ended up kicking her face. She was pretty mad at me but I explained that she scared me and she forgave me. If anyone knows about being scared, she's the one. And no, I didn't show her the spider, she would never go outside again.
I haven't seen it since then. I'm worried he found a way in. And... I'm packing my bags...again.
Ok, I will stay. But only because moving is a HUGE hassle. You better believe that it will be a while before I trim the rose bushes that surround the deck.
*P.S. - I realize that I haven't written anything of worth in nearly a month. I'm working on it.

Nothing
I haven't taken a picture in a week.
I haven't done much exciting in a week either.
So... the blog remains untouched.
Well, okay we did buy a new bed this Labor Day (I know, so exciting ;)). My dreams are filled with space for my arms to go anywhere but my side, and my back and hips are anxious for a crater-less mattress.
I'm really hoping we made a good mattress decision. It seems like there is just no way to know by laying on one in the store for a few minutes with a bunch of strangers looking at you as they walk by and your children bouncing around like a bunch of wild monkeys. It really is a miracle that we made it out of there without someone needing stitches.
Last night I couldn't sleep a wink because I all of the sudden had visions of a re-decorated bedroom.
I kind of like the idea because it won't take much...money that is (we said bye bye to that as we pointed to the pile of foam, springs, and fabric in Sears and said "we'll take that one"). **update 8/9 Ewwww! Curtains are not cheep! Not even if I make them. WHY do we have two huge windows and french doors in our bedroom? **
New curtains (needs to be done anyway because they are fading and weren't that great to start with), maybe some cute pillows (not too many though, as they are wasted space, but add a sense of decor that our home completely lacks), re-upholster the bench on my cedar chest (which has been on my "to do" list since I got it), and a new headboard if I can find a way to get the one I found on clearance home.
If it all happens, I will be sure to share some before and after pictures.
