Quarter Past

 Roman has done a lot in the last 6 months.   

Elder Betts had way too much fun in the MTC. He got along really well with his district and was absolutely spoiled with fun people and lots of good memories. He really did have the best two weeks ever. 

He started out in Muscatine, Iowa with Elder Lofgran as his trainer. He loved the area. The ward was amazing and treated the missionaries so well.  Elder Lofgran is the younger brother of someone who went on a date with Roman's cousin once upon a time. It was a funny coincidence.

He almost never had to go grocery shopping because they were fed sometimes more than once a day. 

They did have one baptism in this area and they worked really hard. I think their biggest accomplishment in the area was to regain some lost trust with the members. 

They enjoyed going to Iowa City for most P-days to play pickle ball and enjoy the company of their zone.  

After two transfers Roman stayed in Muscatine and he got a new companion who was from Heber and actually knew another one of his cousins, Harley. Such a small world.

At Christmas time his companion went home early leaving him companionless for a couple of weeks. It was a crazy time that Roman was happy to have over.  He ended up spending a little over a week in Iowa City without his things, trapped by a blizzard and unsure of who his next companion would be.

His new companion finally came and was from Idaho. Roman was made senior companion and trainer. It was nice for him to have a companion again but he had been in Muscatine for a long time and he was feeling like he had done everything and didn't know what else to do. 

In early February he was finally moved to the small town of Canton, Illinois.  And by small.. I mean... tiny.   They do have a building that is itty bitty. 

This is part of the Peoria Zone and it's a change... which is good. He gets along with his companion, who grew up in Ohio and is now from Lehi, UT, and I think they have a fun time together.  Roman was made District Leader with the move as well. He went on transfers with an elder who turns out is his cousins' second cousin. It really is such a small world.

He's had run in's with crazy people, super kind people, spiders, bats, horses, freezing rain and blizzards and I'm sure there is more to come.
