So, we had a solar eclipse around here the day before school started.
If not for that unfortunate timing, we would have driven up to Idaho where they had a total eclipse.
But, knowing that half the state was going, and that school was starting the next day... well, it just wasn't going to happen.
Part of me wishes that I had gone anyway. I've heard it was really cool.
I did stumble across some eclipse glasses though so at least we could see the 91% that we got here at home.
We watched it progress as we drove from store to store while we did our last minute back to school shopping.
Then, we stopped to watch it as it reached it's peak.
It only ever got a little darker, like we were looking through sunglasses.
It's amazing how powerful the sun is. Even when it was 91% covered, it was light enough to have shadows.
