What a year!

The 2020-2021 School year ended! Hallelujah! It went faster than I thought it would, but it was a year like no other. Masks were required which was easier than I thought it would but, but still so hard. Roman had a month of hybrid learning which meant he went to school two days a week, two days a week were online and the fifth day was a catch-up day.  We somehow managed to avoid getting covid-19 and by another absolute miracle were able to avoid any quarantines. There weren't many extra curricular activities, however Roman was able to attend a couple of dances, Marisa had a virtual concert and an in-person concert. Roman was able to play volleyball with only one canceled tournament. Ezra was still able to have the 6th grade musical play they do and graduation which were both virtual.

Parents were allowed to go get their picture with their kids etc. afterward. I'm not even sad that we are done with elementary school. On to the brand new middle school! It's going to be an adventure. Hopefully a pretty normal one.

Super Knight

Marisa got an award at School called the super night award. There's only a few people who get this award each year so I thought it was a pretty big deal. She got a little statue and certificate and I checked her out of school to go get lunch.

Here are some of the things her teachers said about her:

Marisa is a great girl.  She leads with a quiet and kind attitude.  She is such a thinker and really works hard to do her best all the time. I love having Marisa in my class.  She really is just plain awesome. Mrs. Jackson

Marisa does an excellent and thorough job with everything she does. She works hard and sees what needs to be done and goes after it. She is helpful to other students and always ready to help! Thanks, Marisa! Mrs. Smith

Marisa is an absolute delight to have in my cooking class. She is a quiet leader and also so kind to everyone.  I have appreciated her hard work and the efforts she makes to help everyone feel included in her kitchen group.  Mrs Luke

Marisa is such a patient, nice person.  I appreciate her helping me keep my class a more calm place.  She is just a great person.  -Mr. Hammon

We couldn't agree more. Congratulations Marisa!

His First Orchestra Concert

Ezra had his first orchestra concert ever. He did so well. We were all really impressed. His poor little orchestra.... more like a quartet with two cellos (and the teacher playing her viola). I think he really enjoyed it by the end. He plans to keep it up at the middle school next year.

14

Marisa turned 14! WHAT! I can't believe it! Time is going too fast. She will be in 9th grade this year! Be still my soul! Did you notice that she got contacts? She is loving them!

She picked curry for dinner. Our favorite place shut down so we had to go with a second favorite but it was still good.

Ice Cream Cake from Dairy Queen was a winner.

And she had some simple requests for gifts.

Happy Birthday Girlfriend!

Prom

Roman and his buddies had a great group for prom.  He took a girl from his group of friends Abbie.

They decided to do a paint along with Bob Ross for their day activity. Such a fun idea. Plus, it forced me to clean the garage.

Wesley's father likes to cook so he made the Prom dinner. It turned out so nice!

Then it was off to the dance. What a cute group! These are some of Roman's best friends.

My contribution to the cause was the flowers. I made all these corsages but the one on the left. It was so much fun to play with flowers.

Good times!
