Shane snagged a great deal on a cruise this fall and the grandparents were able to come be here with the kids so we could run away.
We had two days at sea to eat, soak in the sun on our deck, eat and play. The ship was 1/3 full and we had the place to ourselves. It was good in so many ways although a little spooky. The food, especially the buffet was delicious and the crowd was different than the carnival crowd. There was a surprising amount of gay men. They liked to wear small swimming suits at the pool. (eye roll) other than that they were funny and entertaining. The rest of the ship was a lot of frequent cruisers and retirees.
Being one of a few, it was easy to be a part of the show. I felt a little sorry for the entertainers with the small crowds. However, of all the cruises I've been on, the entertainment on this one was probably the worst which surprised me. There just wasn't very much to do. Good thing the pool and the gym were typically empty.
Our first stop was Puerto Vallarta where we hitched a ride to the Malacon (basically a boardwalk) and saw the shops and all the Catrinas that were sponsored by local businesses for day of the dead.
We took a quick detour to check out the local Sam's Club which was pretty much the same as our Sam's Club.
Next stop was Cabo. As we pulled into the cove, there were many playful dolphin to see and a sea turtle who popped up as we slowly worked our way in. It was so much fun to watch!
It was a great time to get away and all was well (and cold) at home which made it even better. I'm not sure I would spring for a celebrity cruise again without a screaming deal though. Good food, nice boat, but communication was poor and entertainment was lacking, Still a vacation, and who can turn up their nose as such a relaxing time? Not me.
