Fall Break 2025

For fall break this year I ran away to Ohio by myself. It was relaxing and nice to just be. I don't know really what that means but I just did what I wanted to and didn't have to worry about anyone else. It was nice.

We hauled wood

Visited the Christmas Hole... haha

Visited the lady at the bus stop

Oh yea, I saw Lincoln at the Nashville airport... He was going to Cleveland.

Drove through tunnels of colorful leaves

Ate ice-cream

Chased frogs into the pond

I shopped, read and slept and then I went home. Meanwhile, Ezra watched movies, Shane worked and Roman and Marisa went to school. I win!

The Joys of Home Ownership

This August we power washed the driveway and sealed it.  It was.... not fun. But. Maybe it will help it last for many years to come.  It will probably last longer than my back after all that. My Back!

First Day of School (for the rest of us)

Roman and Marisa didn't start school until September. We got them both moved out and they were well on their way to their Sophomore and Freshman year at BYU.

They got moved in and into classes and it got really quiet at home. But I'm so excited for them and their new adventures.

Sigh. time goes too fast.

Ezra and Marisa sometimes make things less quiet when she comes home

First Day of School (for some of us)

August brings full time work, meetings, shopping and the first day of school... for some of us.

Ezra started his Junior year. I can't even!

I started my fifth year as school secretary and 9th year working at the elementary school. I love it, but still every evening I sat by my firepit pretending it wasn't happening. I just love summer!

The only consolation is that I love cozy winter clothes.

Getting Ready

August was spent somehow ignoring the fact and still getting ready for Marisa to move to school.

She put together her obligatory rolling cart after a trip to Ikea. If you can put together Ikea furniture, surely you've got your freshman year of college in the bag. Its really happening.

ROW-DEE-OH

I went to the rodeo with Kelly. It was really fun. It made me remember the times so many years ago that we would take the kids. It seems like yesterday. It wasn't. https://leannslife.blogspot.com/2008/07/crazy-mad-fun.html

Quick Trip to Idaho

Marisa, Ezra and I made it up to Idaho. It was as good as always. Its just a recharge and I don't know what I'd do without it.

I tortured my sister into playing with me. Two old ladies and their reading glasses. Sigh

Only Campout of the Year

I only got one chance to camp this summer. It was so fun though. I roped Kelly into coming with me and Marisa brought Meili and we just chilled for two nights.

Kelly brought her e-bikes and they were so much fun. The nice thing was that they made biking as hard or easy as you want. And, they are a good equalizer. It didn't matter how much better Kelly was at biking than me because I could just use more power and keep up with her.

We biked for a few hours and saw logging fields and grazing sheep. It was fun!

A lot of time was spent relaxing in hammocks, next to fires, in a kayak (not as relaxing as it should have been) . It was great!

Only downside was the bugs and the dirt, but that's what camping is all about right?

Senior Trip

Marisa decided she wanted to go to Disneyland for a senior trip. And lucky me, she wanted me to go with her!

We were lucky enough to get tickets from Provo to Orange County airport. Both super close to home and our destination.

The day we got there we were able to catch an Uber to the beach where we played in the water and got covered in sand and sun. So much fun! I love playing in the ocean!

We stayed at a place near the Southwest corner of Disneyland and rode the bus in. Other than the messed up bus schedule that meant we had to walk to the gate the first day, this turned out to be really nice.  They had a great big pool that we got all to ourselves and gave us vouchers to eat at Denny's each morning. Win!

We got it all in... multiple time. We had so much fun. I love spending time with this girl! She's so easy going and fun and easy to talk to and just enough like me that we get along although she's also so much like me that there's no one to make the decisions. haha!

For your viewing pleasure.... Me at Marisa's age

Me now

We had three days of Disney fun before heading back home to reality. June was really packed and life can hit hard but it doesn't hurt so much when you get to make memories like this.  I'm so glad that we got to go play in the sun for a few days!
