Spring Break 2024

Spring break this year was slightly low key with a fun little jaunt to Kansas City and surrounding area. The purpose was to get out of town and see something things that we haven't before. Goal accomplished

We flew in Saturday morning and got to work, starting with Pizza Ranch. A place that we discovered by checking out places for Roman to go to while in Iowa. It's just a pizza buffet with really good fried chicken.

Then it was on to some Church sites. We first stopped at the Kansas City Temple

Then we visited Liberty Jail.

From there we drove to Far West and Adam-ondi-ahman.  Both peaceful and remote.  There was this dog at Far West that just sat out in the field perfectly still watching us. I don't know why he was there or what he was doing. It was crazy!

Next morning was Easter Sunday.  The bunny visited our hotel pool. The kids wouldn't got give him a hug but we got this funny picture.

We drove into town to see these fun birdies outside the art museum. There were 5 of them around the grounds. They were fun to be a little creative with.

We stopped at the train station.... just because it was a cool building.

We stopped at a bass pro shop for a smashed penny and Ezra did a little shooting.

That afternoon we went to a Kansas City Royals game. It was so fun! The Easter Bunny threw the first pitch and the Royals had 5 or 6 home runs with fireworks every time. You don't have to like baseball to have a good time at a game. It was great!

From there we went over to Independence to the visitors center. It was.... interesting.

The Community of Christ Temple is.... interesting.

And we walked the temple lot.

Then it was back to the hotel to chill

The next morning we made our way south to Branson Missouri.  We stopped at a Buc-ees on the way because it's just the craziest gas station ever.

As we arrive in Branson we stopped at some of the crazy buildings for some pictures.

There are lots of shows to choose from in Branson but we settled on Dolly Parton's Stampede because who doesn't love watching horses and tricks while you eat? It was great!

The kids even participated in one of the activities.

The next day was a lot of driving but we needed to check Oklahoma off the list and go see the Kansas Capital building so away we drove. Stopping at anything even a little interesting.

Then that was it. It was back home for the rest of our break. I liked that we had a few days to chill at home and I was actually home for my birthday which doesn't happen very often.

It was a good trip and I'm glad we went.
