Last year our spring break plans were canceled because of Covid-19. This year we decided to make plans that couldn't, or at least would be unlikely to be ruined.
We went to Ohio to visit the grandparents. They were coming to Utah for another year on a service mission at the girls camp so it was good for us to be there.
We showed up late Saturday night and the next day was Easter. Grandma was so nice to prepare some Easter baskets for the kids.
We enjoyed some outdoors time, and celebrated my Birthday.
The next day, we hit the road to see the New York church sites. Everything was still pretty closed up because of Covid. (seriously). But who knows what next summer will bring so it was now or maybe never.
First the Whitmer Farm where the church was organized. We were there exactly 191 years later. crazy!
From there we stopped by Grandin Print Shop where the Book of Mormon was first Published.
Yes, this is my finger. I have to prove that I was there somehow.
Then it was on to the Martin Harris Farm
Then Hill Cumorah
It is incredibly steep. The kids had fun inching down it.
From there we went to The Smith Farm and The Sacred Grove. Such a beautiful place.
Then it was a quick stop at the Palmyra Temple and Erie Canal (not pictured).
We were thinking we might stay the night in a hotel. But as we got driving, with only one more scheduled stop, we decided to just go back and save a few bucks.
The scheduled stop was in Rochester. I wanted to show my kids the house my dad grew up in.
Then it was back to Hartford for a few more days of outdoor fun, eating at our favorite restaurants and getting their house ready for them to go live in Utah for a year.
It was a nice trip and the weather was perfect. I'm glad we were able to go.
