He's potty trained!!!!!!
Well... as potty trained as one can be after only 6 days.
Sunday night I pulled the last diaper I could find out of my church bag and said... this is it... we're not buying any more diapers. We've done this three other times and each time he either says "no way" or I say... "I can't handle this!" But I really wanted the diapers behind us for the summer and summer is REALLY close. Or at least it seems that way with all the stuff we need to get done before summer really starts. So I had mentally prepared myself for a battle and day after day of accidents.
Monday morning I asked if he would use the potty... still groggy and tired he said no, but after reminding him that we had no more diapers, that I would give him a treat and that he agreed to try, he did it. YEA!
Ever since then, he has had 0 accidents. Yes you read that right. Not one! Ok... one that I would consider 1/2 of one because he caught himself, told me, and finished on the potty which is pretty fantastic for a beginner. Marisa can't even do that, when she waits too long and has an accident the flood gates are wide open and there is no stopping it.
So anyway, these are some home made undies I made him that have a waterproof layer because with new carpet in the basement, a new leather couch and no time for accident clean up, I just couldn't bare to go without some protection, but he will have nothing to do with pullups and they are just glorified and more expensive diapers. But he doesn't even need them.
I wanted him to wear a pull up at night but he wouldn't do it, 6 nights and every night has been dry...even the one after an evening at Carls jr. with unlimited drinks.
He tells me when he has to go... and sometimes when he doesn't, but I will take a few false alarms over accidents or diapers any day.
We are so proud of him and all a little baffled. Now to get to the point where he's completely independent.

Quick Question
Well, before I get to the question. Let me explain my absence. Blog books are nearly ready to print YEA! I can not even tell you how many hours it takes to make these things but it's so worth it. OH, and by the way. We discovered that last year's books had a printing error. I was so mad at myself for not catching it.... oh I don't know... LAST YEAR. But in my desperation I emailed Blurb (the company I get my books from). They asked me to take a few pictures of the problem and they paid to have them re-printed even though I'm way past the return limit. YEA! I love BLURB... OK. I haven't tried or even heard of another place to have your blog turned into a book, but I'm quite pleased with Blurb.
Also, the ceiling in my sewing room is nearly ready to be dry walled. YEAH! Never fear though... it will still be weeks/months.... years? Weeks...We're shooting for weeks. Then I can go back to painting my life away... oh joy...
Last week I finished a set of 20 dance costumes. After they were done I said "whew! 20 is a lot!". This week I'm working on 40 dance costumes. 40! It's a lot!
I did dust of my camera and take the kids outside because it's beautiful out there. My kids sure are cute. Too bad Roman was a school already.
We now return to our regular scheduled programing.
Here is my question:
What do you do/say when another kid is mean to your kid? I'm thinking older kids... not necessarily toddlers. Although I'm starting to think a two year old has more compassion.
Honestly, I can't think of a darn thing I would say to them that would make a bit of difference. Of course... I couldn't think of a darn thing to say to mean kids when I was a kid either.
Get this... there is a guy in our ward(church) that used to be mean to me when we were kids. I know were all adults now and it's not like It matters anymore, but it's hard to forget how hard he made my fifth grade year.

Princess Tea Party
Roman brought home a note from school that said the high school drill team would be having a Princess Tea Party and Marisa quickly caught wind and was SO excited to go.
She couldn't wait! She planned her outfit, etc. days in advance and counted down the days.
Saturday finally came and the party did not disappoint. Marisa got her nails done with glow in the dark polish, earring stickers, decorated her very own crown and wand, colored princesses, played a few games, had princess stories read to her, and of course, had a snack while the other girls had a fashion show. She LOVED it and it really was perfect for her age.
She's already talking about next year.

Basketball
Basketball is over for Roman this year. Whew! I think I mentioned that I was coaching Roman's team. I didn't exactly sign up to coach but when they called and asked me to, I said yes. Trust me...next time I will be saying no. It was NOT my thing. I didn't absolutely hate it but I did dread it every single week. I don't even think it was worth the free pictures and $10 coupon.
Most of the kids on our team were actually pretty good at basketball. I think there was only one team that they were completely dominated by. We did drills and taught rules for the first few weeks, but for the most part, we just let them play and attempted to correct their mistakes. For the games I had to be referee too along with the other team's coach. Ewww...I didn't like that one bit either.
Roman had fun, but I don't know if he LOVED it. He's not aggressive and he gets pushed around by the kids who are, but he does alright and still has a lot of fun.
I tried to just let the kids have fun and help sink in the rules but 7 year old boys are not exactly good listeners and I'm not exactly an attention grabber. Luckily Shane was there to help keep track of rotations and be an extra eyes.
I managed though, and made an attempt to give it my best effort. Still, when one mom starts throwing back handed comments to my husband about what I'm NOT doing, I'm ready to throw my whistle at the woman and go home. Really?
Not a fan of the boy who threw a big ol' fit at the last game because no one would pass him the ball. Every time he got the ball he practically curled up in the fetal position until someone took the ball from him but I couldn't tell him that. I just said sorry, and did what I could to convince the other boys to pass him the ball. Needless to say, I don't think he had a great experience either. Ugh!
Anyway, Roman is so easy going he liked it, made a few baskets and just had fun even though he's not the star. I love that about him.
Ezra and Marisa had fun playing with some other kids that were there most of the time. Ezra fell asleep watching one time. Funny.
I think I'll just leave coaching for....anyone else from now on. I play the role of supportive mom/cheerleader/treat bringer much better.
