Fall Cruise 2022

Shane snagged a great deal on a cruise this fall and the grandparents were able to come be here with the kids so we could run away.

We flew in the night before departing on the ship and we stayed in a place just across the street from the port.  It was extremely questionable. This is just the lamp shade. The bed was clean, but that's all it had going for it.

This was our first cruise on Celebrity Cruises.
We went to Puerto Vallarta, Cabo and Ensenada. The weather was beautiful!

We had two days at sea to eat, soak in the sun on our deck, eat and play. The ship was 1/3 full and we had the place to ourselves. It was good in so many ways although a little spooky.  The food, especially the buffet was delicious and the crowd was different than the carnival crowd. There was a surprising amount of gay men. They liked to wear small swimming suits at the pool. (eye roll) other than that they were funny and entertaining.  The rest of the ship was a lot of frequent cruisers and retirees.

Being one of a few, it was easy to be a part of the show. I felt a little sorry for the entertainers with the small crowds.  However, of all the cruises I've been on, the entertainment on this one was probably the worst which surprised me.  There just wasn't very much to do. Good thing the pool and the gym were typically empty.

Our first stop was Puerto Vallarta where we hitched a ride to the Malacon (basically a boardwalk) and saw the shops and all the Catrinas that were sponsored by local businesses for day of the dead.

We also walked to a local beach that was just ok.

For a couple days we raced along with the Panorama. We'll be on that ship in April.

We took a quick detour to check out the local Sam's Club which was pretty much the same as our Sam's Club.

Next stop was Cabo.  As we pulled into the cove, there were many playful dolphin to see and a sea turtle who popped up as we slowly worked our way in. It was so much fun to watch!

We had walked to a local beach last time we were in port so this time we caught an Uber to A beach (Playa el Chileno) about 15 minutes away after checking out the beaches on the other side of the port.  It was very beautiful and a great place to do some snorkeling.

It was fun to be on a cruise during a holiday. They decorated, had fun deserts and had parties that we didn't attend.

The stop at Ensenada was uneventful and was just an opportunity to stretch our legs, we chatted with some people who were on the princess ship that docked along side us and said that their ship was only 1/4 full! What!?!

It was a great time to get away and all was well (and cold) at home which made it even better. I'm not sure I would spring for a celebrity cruise again without a screaming deal though. Good food, nice boat, but communication was poor and entertainment was lacking, Still a vacation, and who can turn up their nose as such a relaxing time? Not me.
